FINISH THIS SENTENCE. MEGAN IS . . .
Deep down a maverick with an optimistic heart, driven by an eternally curious intellect.
HOW DO YOU SELF-IDENTIFY AND WHY?
After 11 years on the West Coast, I view myself as Northern Californian because I deeply identify with the unpretentiousness of that area both in terms of breadth of knowledge and diversity of thought.
WHAT INSPIRES YOUR CREATIVITY?
As a visually-driven person, I'm a collector of words and images. In each corner of my office will undoubtedly be hidden, crumpled lists of jotted words along with random images that are dogeared.
WHAT PAST JOBS DID YOU HAVE THAT INFORMS WHO YOU ARE NOW?
I’ll never forget when I was given my first paycheck at age 15—it was delivered by the hands of the “big boss” who, as it turns out, was a woman. It was then that I realized women can wield power in business.
GROWING UP, WHAT CHALLENGES DID YOU OVERCOME THAT SHAPED YOUR MINDSET?
Witnessing my mother overcome hurdles as an immigrant and female working in a male-dominated industry—software programming—helped me understand the true meaning of perseverance.
IF YOU COULD GET ON A PLANE TOMORROW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY?
Vietnam without question. It is a country that has had to reinvent itself—especially in the South. I’d like to walk the streets and absorb first-hand the grace and resiliency of its people.
AS A STORYTELLER, WHAT IS YOUR DEFAULT CREDO AND WHY.
Listening to understand first has always been my go-to strategy. As I have come to learn, most people will tell you exactly what they are thinking if you just allow them.
DESCRIBE YOUR MOST RECENT FAILURE AND WHAT LESSON WAS LEARNED?
I have so many failures, how do I choose? I strive to fail at least once a day so I can learn and move on.
WHAT BOOK/ARTICLE DID YOU JUST FINISH READING?
On my nightstand is, “The Sympathizer," by Viet Thanh Nguyen and “Crazy Rich Asians," by Kevin Kwan.
